This korowai was woven by all the Kaumatua of Maniapoto during their weekly Mahi Toi programme under the
guidance of their Kaiako Hana Herbert as part of the Ngati Maniapoto Marae Pact 25 years celebrations in
November 2006.  The main pattern on it, is the logo for the Trust.  The korowai is stored at the Trust and used
for special occasions only.
 
  
 
The Name
Te Rau Awhina (Leave of love, embrace and gracefulness).
The many hands and hundreds of stitches that have woven this korowai by working together and that blessings go with you.

Colours

Reddish Brown are the marae colours of earth (Papatuanuku).

Light Brown is the earth that we stand on.

Dark Brown depicts us as the people of Maniapoto.

Speckle Brown is the new horizons in front of us in line with the Trusts strategic direction for

our whanau, hapu and iwi of Maniapoto.

Cream depicts our europeans and other cultures.
