Purpose

A genuine Maniapoto co-operative working alongside Maniapoto whānau to achieve sustainable enterprises and future prosperity for our local communities.

The Maniapoto Trades and Services manage the resource base of the Trust, including its commercial buildings in Taumarunui and Te Kūiti and the farming enterprises at Waitomo and Otorohanga which also covers the Trusts exotic forestry estate in the King Country.

The Maniapoto Trades and Services was originally established in 1997 as a small contracting operation. It soon moved into commercial forestry and farming contracts where students from our forestry and farming courses were able to apply their studies in a practical environment.

The Trust then invested into its own farming and forestry enterprises immersing our students into the full extent of activities required in farming and forestry.

Surplus income generated from these enterprises is channelled back into the charitable work of the Trust thereby improving opportunities for “Not for Profit” community activities.

A co-operative approach it provides opportunities to retain our local rangatahi talent in Maniapoto whilst building capacity and capability within the organisation to better support whānau across many social and cultural needs.
