The Ngāti Maniapoto Marae PACT Trust (NMMPT) currently farms 3 sheep and
beef properties at Waitomo (K1, K2, and K3), and a Dairy Unit at Irvine Road
Otorohanga.
All these properties also have managed radiata pine forestry stands on them; and we also have a 130-ha permanent pine forest at Mokauiti.
Forestry Education and Training:
Both the farming enterprises, and forestry estates provide the practical venues
for the Maniapoto Training Agency Agricultural and Forestry Youth Guarantee
Training Programmes, and our Te Anga farm (K3), is the site for the Trusts
Cultural and Education Centre.
The NMMPT has been in negotiations to add a neighbouring property to the K1,
K2 and K3 farms from late 2022 and early 2023.
The NMMPT can now announce the successful end to these negotiations with
the 560-ha property now purchased by NMMPT, with a takeover date 30 June
2023.
The property will be farm and integrated into current farming and forestry
operations of the Trust and will extend the Agricultural and Forestry training
activities of Maniapoto Training Agency.
An open day and blessing will be held on the new property on the 7 July 2023
for Trustees, staff, whānau and key stakeholders.
